In the course of my research, the plans for the second Campbell County, Georgia jail were discovered in the Inferior Court Records of the county for 1858. Wanting to show the jail in detail, I decided to construct a scale model. The 1/2" = 1' model is currently on display at the Old Campbell County Courthouse in Fairburn, Georgia. Please check their website for hours of operation. The first jail was constructed shortly after the founding of the county, which had its seat in Campbellton. This first jail was built between 1828 and 1832, as best as we can determine. The second jail, which the model depicts, was started in 1858 and completed in 1859.
